THE COACHING PROCESS
My coaching process.
WHAT COACHING IS:
A partnership, not a prescription.
Coaching is a collaborative relationship built around your goals, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Rather than looking backward to explain what's wrong, coaching looks forward — helping you clarify what you want, uncover what's been holding you back, and build a concrete plan to move toward it.
I bring structure, thoughtful questions, and honest perspective. You bring the story, the goals, and the willingness to do the work. Together, we move at a pace that respects both.
IS COACHING RIGHT FOR YOU?
Coaching tends to fit if any of this sounds familiar.
You're facing a decision or transition.
You know something needs to change, but aren't sure where to start.
You're motivated to do the work between sessions.
You want a structured process with accountability, creativity and safety.
You're ready to look forward, even if the road there feels unclear right now.
THE PROCESS
Four steps, one steady path forward.

FREQUESTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Have questions? You’re not alone. Here are answers to some of the things people often want to know before getting started.
-
Both coaching and therapy can support meaningful change, but they serve different purposes.
Coaching is focused on where you are now, where you want to go, and the steps that can help you get there. It is collaborative, goal-focused, and often centered on growth, relationships, decisions, transitions, and creating meaningful change.
Therapy is a healthcare service that may include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health concerns. Coaching does not provide diagnosis or mental health treatment and is not a substitute for psychotherapy.
-
Delta has been coaching since 2006 and practicing psychotherapy since 2014. Her experience in both areas gives her a unique understanding of people, relationships, change, and personal growth.
Having worked extensively in both fields, Delta has developed an uncanny ability to assess whether a situation may be better suited for coaching or psychotherapy. When therapy would be more appropriate, she also has excellent professional resources and a diverse referral network to help connect clients with the right support.
However, when you work with Delta through Valiant Coaching & Consulting, you are hiring her as a coach—not as a psychotherapist. The relationship is a coaching relationship and does not include mental health diagnosis, treatment, or psychotherapy.
-
Sometimes coaching is not the right service for what a person is experiencing—and that’s okay.
If it appears that your needs would be better supported through psychotherapy or another healthcare service, Delta will discuss this with you and encourage you to seek an appropriately licensed professional. She has a diverse referral base of known, experienced, and effective therapists.

Coaching may be a good fit if you are ready to explore change, gain clarity, make decisions, strengthen relationships, develop new skills, or take meaningful steps toward something you want in your life.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. That’s part of what coaching is for.
-
Coaching can focus on many areas of life, including relationship wellness, betrayal recovery, major life transitions, retirement, career changes, personal growth, relocation, living abroad, and strengthening yourself as an individual or couple.
Your coaching plan will be built around your individual goals.
-
Yes. Individual and couples coaching are available.
Couples coaching focuses on strengthening the relationship, improving communication and connection, navigating change, and helping both partners work toward the kind of relationship they want to create together.
-
Yes. Coaching is offered virtually, making it possible to work together from many locations.
This is especially helpful for clients who travel frequently, live outside the United States, are considering an international move, or are already living abroad.
-
There is no one-size-fits-all timeline.
Some people come to coaching with one clear decision or goal and need only a short period of support. Others are making larger life or relationship changes and choose to work together longer.
We’ll regularly look at your progress so coaching continues to be useful and purposeful.
-
The complimentary consultation is a relaxed 15-minute conversation.
It’s a chance for us to meet one another, briefly discuss what brings you to coaching, see if there is good chemistry for working together, and assess whether coaching with Delta is an appropriate fit.
There is no pressure or obligation to continue.
-
Your first coaching session is slightly longer because Delta conducts a thorough “Getting to Know You” session.
This gives her time to understand your background, what’s important to you, how you tend to make decisions, the relationships and experiences that have shaped you, and what you hope to accomplish through coaching.
Together, you’ll begin identifying what is working, what may be getting in your way, and what meaningful change would look like. This foundation allows Delta to help create a coaching plan that fits your values, goals, relationships, and life.
-
YES!
-
Not usually—and that’s one of the important differences between coaching and simply getting advice. Consulting is different. Consulting appointments are designed to help reach a specific decision or outcome through a small, limited number of sessions.
In coaching, Delta will ask questions, offer observations, provide resources, help you consider options, and sometimes challenge you to look at something differently. The goal is to help you make thoughtful choices that fit your values, goals, relationships, and life.
-
That’s a perfectly good place to begin.
You may simply know that something doesn’t feel right anymore or that you’re ready for something different. Coaching can help you slow down and assess what specifically needs to change, explore what’s important to you, and determine whether that change will actually move you toward your desired end goals. Together, we can turn a general feeling of “something needs to change” into a clearer direction.
-
Start with a complimentary 15-minute consultation.
We’ll talk briefly about what you’re looking for, answer your questions, and decide together whether Valiant Coaching & Consulting is a good fit for what you need.
READY WHEN YOU ARE
